Dr. Grant Sanderson

DVM

Dr. Sanderson is a 1991 graduate of Rockford Lutheran High School. He attended Augustana College and is a 2003 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association, and serves on the Executive Board of the Greater Rockford Veterinary Medical Association. As an Eagle Scout, Dr. Sanderson loves spending time outdoors. He enjoys all sports, both saltwater and freshwater fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.

Dr. Whitney Oltmanns

DVM

Dr. Whitney Oltmanns, a native of Byron, IL, pursued her passion for veterinary science at Rockford University before earning her doctorate at the University of Illinois. She has special interests in orthopedics and advanced soft tissue surgeries. She also enjoys volunteering with the Special Olympics and local animal shelters.

In her downtime, Dr. Oltmanns enjoys water skiing, weight lifting and reading.

Dr. Jennifer Boonstra-Hood

DVM, MPH, DACVPM

Dr. Jennifer Boonstra-Hood is a dedicated and experienced veterinarian with a passion for both preventive and exotic animal medicine. A 2006 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Boonstra-Hood also holds a Master’s degree in Public Health, further enriching her comprehensive approach to animal health and community wellness. She is board certified with the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine and is currently preparing to sit for the board examination in exotic animal medicine, a field in which she has extensive training and hands-on experience.

Based in Rockford, Illinois, Dr. Boonstra-Hood is deeply involved in her local community. She serves as a part-time Adjunct Professor at the Rockford Career College Veterinary Technician Program, where she teaches the exotics course, sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with future veterinary professionals. Her commitment to animal welfare extends beyond the classroom—she volunteers with Hoo Haven Wildlife Center, provides veterinary care at Randall Oaks Zoo monthly, and supports local animal shelters including Noah's Ark and formerly, Winnebago County Animal Services.

In addition, Dr. Boonstra-Hood collaborates with the University of Illinois Medical School in Rockford, assisting with the care of their laboratory animals and contributing as a member of the Biological Resources Committee.

Outside of her professional and volunteer commitments, Dr. Boonstra-Hood enjoys an active outdoor lifestyle with her husband and their blended family, which includes two daughters, two dogs, and several beloved cats.
